News: Falcom ports

May 29, 2004 11:57 PM PST

Taito / IGGY / BS

Taito has announced their plans to port several Falcom games to the PS2. The games planned are Ys 3, 4 and 5 (no word on just which Ys 4 they're referring to, but it's likely the SFC version), as well as the popular new Zwei!! ARPG. According to the Game Watch article, they're to be ports of the PC versions, which are themselves ports. The games were released as part of a box compilation promo earlier in the year. No word on whether or not the games will be altered from their original form. An itmedia list suggests that Ys 3 will be released in the fall, and Game Watch gives a specific month (august) for Zwei!!'s release. With any luck, maybe they'll port the Legend of Xanadu series next!

Sony Music Entertainment / BS

Sony Music Entertainment is bringing out a Samurai Spirits OST box, if this amazon japan preorder page is correct. There are to be five discs, so one could assume this to be SS 1~5 (or possibly 1~4+RPG, but that's more of a stretch). 8,800 yen with a july 7th release. Thanks to nikaiten for the news.

Yahi / BS

Yahi has created a (fake) fighter based on the Busou Renkin manga. It'd be nicer if it were real, rather than a shallow parody. Thanks to Holiday's mmcafe bbs post for the link.

Sega / BS

Sega's odd card/RPG/medal redemption game Dragon Treasure apparently sold well enough to warrant a sequel. Dragon Treasure 2 is planned for July, according to river service. Thanks to nikaiten for the news.
