What is there to say about Tim Rogers that hasn't already been said? Erudite, casanova, conservationist; Tim Rogers -- nee Jonathon Timothy Reischauer -- has been at the helm of video game journalism since its inception. His earliest writings were widely considered the culmination of a plethora of gaming achievement condensed into a poetic juxtaposition of words, earning him the respect of colleagues and friends alike and a place in the halls of electronic digital entertainment history.

And now, with The Insert Credit Cold Fifty, Tim leads us on a retrospective glance back at the fifty video game characters that made us laugh, cry, and everything in between for these some-odd years of video gaming history. It's difficult to imagine a world without such characters as Little Goomba or Knuckles the Echidna -- they color our lives and, later, paint our memories with the soft sepia tones of flashbacks as vividly experienced in Final Fantasy III(US).

Tim Rogers has been given the unenviable task of librarian to our memories. Let us discover them along with him.
